A/PROF NEVILLE BARRETT
Associate Professor Neville Barrett from the University of Tasmania is the 2025 Jubilee Award winner. Neville’s research includes long-term field-based studies on coastal rocky reef ecology and ecosystem function to better inform marine protected areas, marine habitat mapping for conservation planning and spatial management, as well as conservation of biodiversity. His research is strategically focused to allow evaluation and subsequent management of human impacts, including in deeper shelf habitats. Neville has contributed critical insights into climate-driven species distribution changes, and assessed habitat and species vulnerabilities in key ecosystems. His research has significantly influenced the zoning and management of marine parks across southern Australia.
